How it works

Three steps, about ten seconds

The form asks for the minimum it possibly can. No account, no password, no verification email before you can pay.

  1. Enter your card number

Turn the card over and copy the long number printed on the back. We group the digits as you type so it is easy to check against the card.

    About 5 seconds

  2. Choose an amount

Tap one of the preset amounts or type your own, anywhere between AED 10 and AED 500. The total including the service fee updates instantly.

    About 2 seconds

  3. Pay and tap

Pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay on the provider’s secure page. Your credit is queued straight away and lands on the card at your next tap.

    About 3 seconds

Why bother

Why people top up here instead of at the machine

Nothing to install

It is a web page. It opens in the browser you already have, on a phone, a laptop or a borrowed tablet, and it does not ask you to create an account first.

No queue, no rush hour

Top up on the walk to the station, in the lift or the second you notice a low balance — not while five people behind you wait for the machine.

One flat fee

A single AED 2 service fee per top-up, displayed before you pay. No percentage cuts, no surcharge for small amounts and no subscription.

Works for other people’s cards

Top up a card that is not in your hand — a family member’s, a colleague’s, a visitor’s. All you need is the number printed on it.

A receipt you can actually use

Every top-up gets an emailed receipt and a short reference code. If anything needs chasing, that code is all our support team needs.

Fully bilingual

The entire site, the form, the error messages and the receipts exist in both English and Arabic, with proper right-to-left layout.

  • ~10 sec Typical time from opening the page to paying
  • AED 2 Flat service fee, whatever you top up
  • 5 Transport modes plus paid parking
  • 24/7 The form never closes for the night

Coverage

Where the credit gets you

Balance added to your nol card is ordinary card credit. It works anywhere the card itself works.

  • Metro

Red and Green line gates, from the first train to the last.

  • Buses

City routes, intercity coaches and feeder buses to the stations.

  • Tram

Validators at every tram door along the coastal line.

  • Water bus and abra

Marine routes across the creek and along the marina.

  • Paid parking

Street parking meters that accept nol card payment.

  • Everyday retail

Small purchases at outlets that take nol card as payment.

Compatibility

Which cards we can top up

If the card has a number printed on it, we can put credit on it. That covers the cards most people carry: the everyday pay-as-you-go card bought at a machine, a registered personal card, a discounted concession card and the premium cards used for first-class travel.

You do not need to prove the card is yours, and you do not need to have it registered to anything. A number is enough, which is exactly why topping up someone else’s card takes no longer than topping up your own.

  • Anonymous pay-as-you-go cards bought from a machine or kiosk
  • Personalised cards registered in someone’s name
  • Concession cards for students, seniors and people of determination
  • Premium cards used for gold-class carriages
  • Cards belonging to family, friends or colleagues
  • Cards you are holding for a visitor who has just landed

What we cannot do

We add credit, and that is all. We cannot:

  • issue a brand new card or replace a lost one
  • read the current balance on your card
  • move credit from one card to another
  • buy a season pass or a monthly product on your behalf

Money

What it costs

One flat fee per top-up. The total you will be charged is on screen before you commit to anything.

If you top up Service fee You pay
AED 20 AED 2 AED 22.00
AED 50 AED 2 AED 52.00
AED 100 AED 2 AED 102.00
AED 200 AED 2 AED 202.00

Minimum top-up AED 10, maximum AED 500 per transaction. Your bank may apply its own charge for a foreign-currency card — that one is between you and them.

One thing worth knowing about the balance

Credit is queued to your card within seconds of the payment going through, but a card is a piece of plastic — it has to be told. The new balance appears the first time you tap at a metro gate, a bus validator, a tram door or a parking meter.

So if you top up on the platform and the gate shows the old balance, tap again: the credit loads on that tap.

Questions

The things people ask before their first top-up

Do I need to download an app or create an account?

No. This is a web page, and it works in the browser you are reading it in right now. There is no app, no sign-up, no password and no verification step before you can pay.

The only thing we ask for beyond the card number and the amount is an email address, and that is so you have a receipt.

How quickly does the balance actually arrive?

The credit is queued the moment your payment is authorised, which is normally a couple of seconds. It becomes visible on the card at your next tap on a gate, bus, tram or parking meter.

Where do I find my card number?

Turn the card over. The long number is printed on the back, usually towards the bottom. Type the digits and nothing else — we insert the spaces as you go so it is easy to compare with the card.

Can I top up a card that belongs to someone else?

Yes, and it is one of the most common things people use us for. You need the number printed on the card and nothing more. The credit goes to that card, not to yours.

What if I type the wrong card number?

Contact us with your reference code as soon as you notice. If the credit has not yet been pulled onto the wrong card we can usually stop it and put it right. Once someone has tapped and spent it, it is gone — which is why the form shows the digits back to you in groups of four before you pay.

Is my bank card safe here?

Your bank card number is never typed on this site. Payment happens on the payment provider’s own secure page, and what comes back to us is a yes or a no. We store the top-up details and the receipt, not your card credentials.
